Friends,

Our mission at FIO is to help create ties between Israeli communities through music. We believe strongly that art–and opera specifically–has the power to transcend cultural barriers, unite diverse audiences in their passion for this incredible art form, and raise talents from disadvantaged communities into world-renowned masters of their craft. At our Gala Evening, many of you will have enjoyed first hand the performance by Nour Darwish, an Arab singer trained at the Israel Opera’s Meitar Opera Studio, who has now made her debut on the main stage of the Israel Opera House in Tel Aviv. She is one of many performers who have and will depend on the Young Artist Programme to flourish in their operatic careers.

We need your help to continue these great works and begin new initiatives, for which ideas and opportunities present themselves every day. We are extremely excited about raising much-needed funds and awareness here in Britain. With our support, the Israel Opera and Meitar Opera Studio can continue to train and reward young talent across myriad communities in Israel. By attending FIO’s parlour evenings and galas, joining its group excursions to Israel, or donating directly, you will be contributing invaluable assistance to one of the most exciting opera companies in the world.

Thank you for your boundless generosity.

“An opera begins long before the curtain goes up and ends long after it has come down. It starts in my imagination, it becomes my life, and it stays part of my life long after I’ve left the opera house.”
